# Estimating Quantities

## NUMBERS AND OPERATIONS

### PRE-KINDERGARTEN 3 YEARS

Estimating a quantity involves finding the result of a set or operation in an approximate way.

As children improve their basic counting and calculating skills, their mathematical ability to estimate also improves.

The estimates or approximations are worked on in the classroom throughout the Preschool Education (3, 4 and 5 years) and, finally, it is checked whether they have been properly learned at the beginning of Elementary or Primary Education.

#### Make quantity estimates with natural numbers: All - None

PRE-KINDERGARTEN 3 YEARS

We present you some worksheets ready to download and print where you have to compare two sets, visually discriminate and color in which are "all" elements and in which there are "none".

#### Make quantity estimates with natural numbers: Any / Some - None

PRE-KINDERGARTEN 3 YEARS

We show you some activities in PDF format in which you must compare two sets, relate them and interpret which one represents the estimate "any" or "some" and which "none".

#### Make quantity estimates with natural numbers: Many - Few

PRE-KINDERGARTEN 3 YEARS

We provide you with printable exercises where you will learn to compare two sets of elements and distinguish which symbolizes the concept "many" and which "few".

#### Make quantity estimates with natural numbers: One - Several

PRE-KINDERGARTEN 3 YEARS

We present you some worksheets with funny characters in which you have to recognize and identify the quantities "one" (one unit) and "several" (more than one unit).

#### Recognize by graphic representation: Whole - Half

PRE-KINDERGARTEN 3 YEARS

We show you some activities in PDF format where compare two elements indicating which one manifests the quality "whole" (as a complete unit) and which one the quality "half" (split an initial quantity in two equal parts).

#### Recognize by graphic representation: Common / Family Pattern

PRE-KINDERGARTEN 3 YEARS

We provide you with downloadable exercises where you must compare a series of everyday elements and paint them according to the common pattern that is repeated or to logical membership of a family (for example, clothing items).

Pattern recognition greatly contributes to early mathematical understanding as well as making predictions, understanding what's next, and making connections logic using reasoning skills.

#### Recognize by graphic representation: Group by Pairs

PRE-KINDERGARTEN 3 YEARS

We present you some worksheets ready to download and print where you have to compare different elements, visually discriminate and color grouping by pairs, working the number count two by two.

#### Recognize by graphic representation: Group by Correspondence

PRE-KINDERGARTEN 3 YEARS

We show you some activities in PDF format in which you must compare two sets, relate them and group joining each element of a set with the element of the next set ( "term-to-term correspondence" ).

Select more exercises, worksheets and activities of Mathematics for each of the 4 learning blocks of the Educational Curriculum ("Numbers and Operations", "Quantities and Measurements", "Geometric and Spatial Reasoning" and "Data Analysis and Probability") aimed at improving the logical-mathematical competencies and skills that are developed throughout "Pre-K3" or "Nursery":
